德景中学学生和训导主任冲突。惊动警方。
Student and discipline master in shouting match
Joyce Lim and David Sun | The New Paper | Sat Jul 28 2012
Northland Secondary School had to call in the police to manage an angry student on Wednesday. The New Paper understands that John (not his real name), 16, was upset with how the discipline master had handled his friend.
We are not naming the student as requested by the school's vice-principal, Madam So Mun Yee.
Unhappy, John went to the school office and demanded to see the vice-principal.
Outside the office, he started shouting and, at one stage, got so angry with the discipline master that he allegedly grabbed a stack of old newspapers and threw it at him.
The incident took place at about 2.30pm at the school in Yishun.
A student who witnessed the incident told The New Paper that John, a Secondary 4 student, stood outside the office and shouted.
The witness added: "The discipline master shouted at the student who then picked up a pile of old newspapers that were placed outside the office and threw it at him."
Not tolerated
Madam So, however, maintained that John did not carry out such an act.
She explained that the police were called in to tell the child that the school does not tolerate such behaviour.
TNP understands that John, who will be sitting for his N-level examinations this year, was upset with the discipline master for punishing his Secondary 1 friend, whose school skirt was too short.
He decided to take matters in his own hands.
It is not known which vice-principal John was asking to see, as the school has two vice-principals.
The student who witnessed the incident said that although she does not know John personally, she has seen him around in school.
"He is not notorious in school and I have not really heard of him getting into trouble, although we have some very problematic students here," she added.
"He was just trying to speak up for his ex-girlfriend, who is always being called into the general office for wearing her school skirt too short."
John and his mother were seen leaving the school at about 5.20pm.
John's mother would only say that her son's act was carried out on impulse and that he is remorseful.
After the incident, the Secondary 1 student whom John had stood up for tweeted in Chinese: "Why are you so silly?"
A day before the incident, John had tweeted that he was going to scold the teachers because he was angry with them.
A police spokesman said they had received a call at about 2.45pm on Wednesday, requesting for assistance at Northland Secondary School.
The police later established that there was a dispute between two parties and advised them accordingly.
No one was hurt in the incident, said the spokesman.
"The school takes discipline seriously and does not condone disrespect to teachers," said Madam So.
"The school has counselled the boy and will take appropriate discipline actions.
"The student's parents have been notified and have expressed support of the school's action to help their child in managing his emotions."
