There's nothing wrong with the sentence other than a spelling mistake in the word 'jreks' which should read 'jerks'. The tone (语气〕is definitely informal as contraction like 'they're' and slang like 'jerks' are used.

My Chinese is not good enough to do a free translation but I'll try:

假如他们能有一半的胜任能力传统的答复是忍受(接受〕他们-因为通过培训能改变性情古怪但能胜任(工作〕的人,而不能改变爱讨人喜欢行动笨拙缺乏经验的。

Yes, thanks. That's excellent except for the word 'jerks' ...how would you put it into Chinese in this context...

I'm a Chinese Singaporean (海外华裔) and my Chinese leaves much to be desired. I'm learning to speak, write and read better. Tititata's sentence contains quite a number of slang and idiomatic expressions which I find difficult to put into Chinese (as my Chinese isn't good enough as I say). Would you correct the translation so that I can learn from it?Thanks!

以下是引用tititata在2005-6-9 10:28:51的发言:

看看这样翻译,是否更加符合中文的口语的习惯:

人们习惯上是可以接受能力有限的人,因为他们可以通过培训来提高自身能力,而对于(只会)讨人喜欢却毫无经验(或者说"一无是处")的人,是无法接受的.
