SINGAPORE - Students will be able to take Spanish as a third language from 2014.
This will be the seventh foreign language offered to students at the Ministry of Education Language Centre (MOELC), reported The Straits Times.
Students can take French, Japanese, German, Arabic, Malay, and Bahasa Indonesia as their third language.
Secondary 1 students are eligible to take the course from 2014 and first year junior college students from 2018.
Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister of State for the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education, announced this on Saturday at the official opening of MOELC's new campus at Cairnhill Road.
MOELC (Newton) is the language centre's second campus, built to enable more eligible students the chance to learn a foreign language. The other school is located at Bishan.
