3:14 因为得智慧胜过得银子,其利益强如精金;

Learn to Take Correction

Proverbs 9:8-9(NLT)

8 So don’t bother correcting mockers;

    they will only hate you.

But correct the wise,

    and they will love you.

9 Instruct the wise,

and they will be even wiser.

Teach the righteous,

and they will learn even more.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

There is one thing you can do that will accelerate your spiritual growth more than almost any other thing: learn to take correction--from the SPIRIT of GOD and from HIS people.

So few believers seem to be able to do that. When their preacher gets in the pulpit and preaches about something they already know, about some aspect of life they've already submitted to the LORD believing that once save forever save, all your future sins are automatically forgiven. They think these preachers are great. They like him (the false preachers) because he makes them feel good by only preaching the promises of GOD, and totally ignoring salvation’s EXCLUSIONS, the REQUIREMENTS and the QUALIFYING CONDITIONS clearly stated in the Bible. But the moment a Preacher stands up and begins to preach about the wrath of GOD that comes on those who are disobedient and the things they're doing wrong and that they need to repent, they take offense.

GOD says that's foolish. HE says, in Proverbs 1:7, only fools strike out at, or despise, correction. Warning from 1 Corinthians 6: 9-10do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of GOD? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor passive male homosexual partners nor dominant male homosexual partners, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards nor revellers, nor oppressive cheaters; these will not inherit the Kingdom of GOD

So don't be like that. When your pastor or anyone else in the Body of CHRIST has a word of correction for you, receive it gratefully. Appreciate those who share the wisdom of GOD with you. When someone points out somewhere that you've missed mark, instead of reacting against them, examine yourself and say, "Is that right? Does that agree with the WORD? Do I need to make a change there?"

If the answer to those questions is yes, then make the changes you need to make to get your life in line.

I know that's not easy. None of us likes to be corrected. But if you'll make up your mind you're going to receive that correction anyway, that you're going to remain teachable in the eyes of our LORD, you'll be able to go on and grow in spiritual things much more quickly.

One man said, "If you think you've already arrived, you aren't going anywhere." Remember that next time someone corrects you. Love that person and thank him for speeding along your spiritual progress. If you'll do that, you'll come out ahead every time.

Scripture Study:

Proverbs 3:11-24New Living Translation (NLT)

11 My child, don’t reject the LORD’s discipline,

and don’t be upset when HE corrects you.

12 For the LORD corrects those HS loves,

just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.

13 Joyful is the person who finds wisdom,

    the one who gains understanding.

14 For wisdom is more profitable than silver,

and her (wisdom) wages are better than gold.

15 Wisdom is more precious than rubies;

nothing you desire can compare with her (wisdom).

16 She (Wisdom) offers you long life in her (wisdom’s) right hand,

and riches and honor in her (wisdom’s) left.

17 She (Wisdom) will guide you down delightful paths;

all her (wisdom’s) ways are satisfying.

18 Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her (wisdom);

happy are those who hold her (wisdom) tightly.

19 By wisdom the LORD founded the earth;

by understanding HE created the heavens.

20 By HIS knowledge the deep fountains of the earth burst forth,

and the dew settles beneath the night sky.

21 My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment.

    Hang on to them,

22 for they will refresh your soul.

They are like jewels on a necklace.

23 They keep you safe on your way,

and your feet will not stumble.

24 You can go to bed without fear;

you will lie down and sleep soundly.

Peace, Joy, and Contentment

Nehemiah 2: 2 In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, 2 so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.”

I was very much afraid, 3 but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

4 The king said to me, “What is it you want?”

Then I prayed to the GOD of heaven, 5 and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”

6 Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.

7 I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah? 8 And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my GOD was on me, the king granted my requests.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Discouragement can rob peace, joy, and contentment. But I have great news if you feel disheartened: You’re not stuck!

I’ve known people who appeared to be in an impossible situation. A few years later, however, they were in a terrific place, either in terms of their circumstances or their emotions. The reason? They never gave up. Instead of sulking in self-pity, they chose to believe GOD, step out in faith, and climb out of the emotional pit.

Nehemiah is a good example. He had every reason to feel defeated, because his people were in trouble. After receiving news that the city wall had been destroyed, this man of GOD acknowledged profound disappointment and grieved. Though pain flooded his soul, he didn’t allow himself to stay in that low place. Instead, Nehemiah cried out to GOD, seeking direction.

Sadness in the presence of royalty was punishable by death. But the LORD answered Nehemiah’s prayer with amazing power, prompting the king to notice his servant’s sad countenance and then to ask what he could do to help. This miracle led to the rebuilding of the wall and the redemption of GOD’s people.

The LORD can take an impossible situation—no matter what it is—and move in ways mightier than you can imagine.

Do you live in eager expectation of what the LORD will do? Or have you chosen to linger in the depths of despair? Like Nehemiah, turn your disappointment into a petition for GOD’s help. HE can restore your hope and prevent negative emotions from gaining a stranglehold on your life.

You will never stumble

2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to GOD as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the WORD of truth.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

A lot of people have been playing games when it comes to the WORD. They claim to be faith people in public. But, in private, they never open the Bible at all and not mention about obedient to GOD’s teachings. Then, when a time of trouble or tribulation comes and they try to stand on the WORD of GOD, they fall flat on their spiritual faces.

Well, the time for playing games is over. It's time for us to realize that real faith involves action. James 2:20 says faith without works [or corresponding action] is dead.

If you want the kind of faith that will keep you on your feet when others are falling around you, you need to take some action where the WORD is concerned.

First, you need to study. You can study the Word in many ways. You can not only read it, you can dig deeply into it with concordances, Chinese/Hebrew dictionaries and other study guides. What's more, if you have a cellphone, you can walk around half the day listening to teaching. It's only one way of study, but it is a powerful one.

The second thing you need to do is go where the WORD is being preached. When Romans 10:17 says "faith comes by hearing," it's talking about the preached WORD.

Whenever I start feeling surrounded by problems and I'm having trouble hearing from GOD, I drop everything and find some place where I can hear the WORD preached. I've received more answers from GOD that way than I can count. Even though the preacher may not have been preaching about anything even remotely connected with the issue I was struggling with, some WORD of Scripture would suddenly start my thoughts in a certain direction. I'd realize, "That's the answer to that problem I've been dealing with for the past weeks!"

Third, you need to start confessing the WORD you've heard. Find the promise of GOD that covers your situation and then declare it out loud as if it had already come to pass in your life.

Get serious about the WORD of GOD. Study it. Go hear it preached. Confess it. Become such a diligent workman that the devil himself will look at you with fear and say, "There's one believer who's not playing games anymore."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scripture Study:  2 Peter 1: 3 HIS divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of HIM who called us by HIS own glory and goodness. 4 Through these HE has given us HIS very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. 9 But whoever does not have them is near-sighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,

The Trap of Discouragement

Habakkuk 1: 2 How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to YOU, “Violence!” but YOU do not save?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Do you feel stuck in discouragement? If so, you are not alone.

At some point everyone experiences dashed hopes. Disappointment—an emotional response to a failed expectation—is the normal initial reaction. But allowed to linger, it can turn into discouragement, which hovers like a dense cloud. When that’s the case, there is no sense of joy or contentment, no matter what you do.

The circumstances that trigger these emotions may be unavoidable, but the way we respond is a choice. We can either let sadness overwhelm our souls or face the situation with courage and bring it before our LORD who can help us.

Living in discouragement will divide the mind, making it hard to focus on anything besides our pain. Then as anger becomes habitual, we’ll look for someone to blame—whether GOD, people around us, or our self.

Frustration that isn’t handled well may develop into depression, which in turn can estrange us from others—people do not enjoy the company of someone who’s bitter and defeated. This isolation leads to a low self-esteem. Finally, in a fog of discouragement, we can make poor decisions based on crushed emotions instead of truth. Obviously, choosing this self-destructive path is not GOD’s best for our lives.

Though we’ll all face disappointment from time to time, believers are not to wallow in it. Instead, GOD wants us to trust HIM with everything—even our unmet expectations and deepest sadness. Remember, there is divine purpose for everything HE allows to touch HIS children’s lives (Rom. 8: 28 And we know that in all things GOD works for the good of those who love HIM, who have been called according to HIS purpose.).
