林捷（lim Jeck)在不久前的IPHO刚拿了金牌，个人排名第十三，又马不停蹄地赶往下一个考场：哥伦比亚的第54届IMO，捍卫他在数学竞赛中一代霸主的地位。（他被剑桥trinity college录取，也许会去）。

洪捷君（Ang Jie Jun)在军队里已服役一年。他明年将作为国家队教练出征IMO，然后在秋天去斯坦福学数学或CS。（他也被MIT和Caltech录取，不过斯坦福给了他50%奖学金。）

丁岳放弃了新加坡国籍，今年九月将去Princeton学习数学和经济。

关俊杰（Joseph Kuan)服役半年。他将在两年后去MIT。

洪延昇在服役，去向不详。

Ryan Kor 服役半年，将在两年后在国大读数学。

这个队的替补，第七名，张艾棣，也是相当有名，她当了三年第七名，但这并不影响她去Harvard学数学和经济。毕竟她的钢琴和小提琴都是演奏家水平，在她的年龄段是数一数二的。

当这个队的第八名（第二替补）李有俊和我谈开奥数培训班的事，说起一些人的近况时，那些在国家集训队培训的逸事再次浮上脑海，我想把它记录下来，或许会对以后学奥数的人有一些启发。（李有俊第二年去IMO得了银牌，然后进了剑桥最难进的trinity college,还申到了GIC奖学金，但他最终决定在国大学医）。

我是这个队的教练之一，自己去过两届IMO，但都与银牌失之交臂。2009年我也是国家队教练，那个时候林捷才中二，人才济济号称新加坡奥数黄金一代的丁岳们也才中三，但他们日后的强大那时便已现端倪：在国家队里中四或以下的学生占了11/25，而这个比例在之前的许多年都是2/25左右。那一年的形势很不明朗，除了在前年得过银牌的家瀚和另一个强手耀泉外，其他的IMO门票大家都有机会。某RI名师在选拔考试第一日结束后教练组猜入榜名单时说，今年的情况太乱了，我甚至不排除林捷。他这么说是有原因的，林捷那时没经过国家队初中高年级组的训练，在国家队训练有太多听不懂的东西，于是降到初中高年级组训练，但选拔考试他还是参加。那年他以第四的排名入选IMO队，让我们一度对国家队培训的成效产生了怀疑，后来听说他在他父母的帮助下，每天花六小时专攻奥数。一个中二的孩子能有此等毅力决心，当时我就觉得他和他的前辈们有点不一样。另一个我注意到的地方就是他对效率的敏锐直觉和与年龄不相称的成熟，就算情况不利，也能沉着地先把该拿的点全部拿到，然后对于自己知识不足的地方，利用自己知道的那些知识，发挥创造力获得一些部分分数。他把他知道的知识方法用到了极致，常常想出些让人眼睛一亮的解法。

在我还是国家队队员的时候，国家队里打桥牌成风，我觉得打桥牌太容易上瘾而且并不能很好地休息大脑，便把狼人推为国家队保留游戏，加深队员们的友谊和了解。那时国家队还稍微轻松一点，没有两年后竞争那么激烈，还有组织外出聚餐，打保龄球等活动。两年后，在我们去IMO的前两天，我去国大取东西，经过平时用于训练的教室，看到洪延昇一个人面对整白板他打的草稿沉思。（经过六月一整月和七月第一个星期的集训，一般人都会回去休息放松一下）。
