<P>You said that you can hardly follow any spoken English, so you have difficulty in listening as well ?</P><P>My advice: 1) Don't try to listen for every word in spoken English - it's quite impossible and not necessary. You only need to hear the content words to understand what is being said. Content words are the ones that carry meaning and are usually stressed in a sentence. Function words are usually pronounced weak (发弱音), therefore they are hardly audible. Function words are words that perform grammatical functions like helping verbs, modal verbs, prepositions etc.</P><P>2) Do you think in English when you use English? If you don't, you'll never be proficient in it. Some English sounds can pose some real problems, if you need any help in pronunciation, I might be able to help you. </P> |
