it's quite natural that you can't interact with them well when u just come here. Singaporean English is also not that easily understood. You just need some time to adjust to it and do listen carefully to what others speak, as what OkayLah has suggested, to get the rough idea rather than word by word interpretation. You can't express yourself well mayb because you don't think in English often when you were in China. There was no such environment that trains your spontaneous English thinking skills. Therefore do speak to others often and let others point out your mistakes provided they are willing to. In this way, you will improve at a steady. However, you must remember not to give up practising and learning from others.

Do get yourself a good English home tutor to orientate you, so that you don't make the same mistakes too many times.

You said that you can hardly follow any spoken English, so you have difficulty in listening as well ?

My advice: 1) Don't try to listen for every word in spoken English - it's quite impossible and not necessary. You only need to hear the content words to understand what is being said. Content words are the ones that carry meaning and are usually stressed in a sentence. Function words are usually pronounced weak (发弱音), therefore they are hardly audible. Function words are words that perform grammatical functions like helping verbs, modal verbs, prepositions etc.

2) Do you think in English when you use English? If you don't, you'll never be proficient in it. Some English sounds can pose some real problems, if you need any help in pronunciation, I might be able to help you.

what i can suggest is that you can repeat or follow what other people said by yourself. thus u may catch the way to practise often.

that is what i did.
[em04]

ya, rite. Repeating standard English is a good way to practise your oral skills as well as your direct English thinking.

Hmmm... Just try to use english more often in your daily life. There is no short cut in learning English. Practice, Practice, More Practice.

Make use of all the chances and opportunities to speak English. Dont feel shy of speaking English, we can learn from others. Learning is never-ending, we should always seek for new knowledge.

That is my humble comments.

Thank!!
